Award rules

Points straight from events, like 1 XP per dollar spent, with caps and rounding.

Quests reward goals. Award rules reward everyday activity: every matching event pays points, with no quest to join.

How a rule pays

A rule watches one metric, optionally narrowed to some events, and pays one currency:

  • A fixed amount per event: 10 coins for every review.
  • The event's value: 1 XP per dollar spent.
  • The value multiplied: 2 points per minute of exercise.

You choose how amounts are rounded, and you can cap them per event and per day. Days follow your project's time zone, so "500 a day" resets at your midnight, not the server's.

Fair to everyone

Rules apply from the moment they're switched on; nobody is paid for the past. When a correction arrives (a refund, say), Luk Quest takes back what the original event earned under the rule, and never more.

When to use which

  • Use an award rule for steady rewards that follow activity: points per purchase, per lesson, per workout.
  • Use a quest for a goal with a finish line: a first purchase, a course completed, a 10-workout challenge.

Most products use both. Quests give players something to aim for; award rules make every action count along the way.
