Publishing and versions

Drafts you can change freely, versions that never change, and players who finish what they started.

Gamification lives for a long time, and it changes while people are playing. Luk Quest separates what you're editing from what players are doing.

Drafts

Every quest has a draft. It saves as you work, keeps an undo history, and warns you if a teammate changed it at the same time. Nothing in a draft reaches players.

Versions

Publishing turns the draft into a version: a frozen copy, with the tasks, metrics and rewards it uses as they were at that moment. You can publish now or schedule a time.

  • A player stays on the version they joined. If you publish an easier version tomorrow, players already on the quest keep the rules they started with.
  • New players join the latest version.
  • You can restore an old version into the draft and publish it again.

Changing the library

Tasks, metrics and rewards live in the project's library. Editing them changes drafts and future versions only, never a published version. That's why you can fix a typo in a task without worrying about the quests players are halfway through.

Archiving

Archiving a quest closes it: nobody new joins and open progress stops, but completed quests and earned rewards stay. Library items are archived too, never deleted, so history always makes sense.
